No. While OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) doesn’t explicitly require certification to conduct a respirator fit test, it does require the person conducting the fit test to have appropriate training and knowledge. Specifically, the person must be able to properly administer the test, recognize invalid tests, and correctly understand the test requirements and exercises. Our respirator fit testing kits come with easy to follow instruction and support from an OSHA-certified fit testing technician, fulfilling this requirement. For administrators looking to deepen their knowledge, we also offer an online respirator fit testing “train-the-trainer” course.
